Jonathan McFarlane

Jonathan McFarlane is the Co-Founder and CEO of PlaceOS. For 10 years, he has been a technology leader, designer and entrepreneur with a focus on technology in the built environment.

PlaceOS evolved from the need to bridge silos in commercial buildings and now has wide adoption in workplaces. This includes multinational deployments that power the user experiences of Fortune 500 companies and many of the big four accounting firms. PlaceOS allows every device, IT and building system to connect to a single platform. This can power user experiences, analytics and automation across the entire building journey: from lobby to desk and everything in between

With hands-on experience across some of the largest deployments of smart workplace projects in the world, Jonathan has a unique perspective on the current challenges and opportunities for property technology. Jonathan holds a Masters of Design Science from the University of Sydney and grounds these big topics with a user experience design focused approach.

Jonathan has contributed thought leadership articles to mainstream and industry publications, including a recent focus on the role of platform technology in Covid-19 response and getting back to work safely. Outside PlaceOS, Jonathan is a hobbyist musician and occasional Podcast host.
